MISSISSIPPI BOOK FESTIVAL

A nonprofit that celebrates literature within Mississippi and attracts thousands to its “literary lawn party.” Since its founding in 2015, the festival has been held in August on the State Capitol grounds.

B.B. KING MUSEUM OPENING

This museum gives an intimate look at the art, music, and heritage of the Mississippi Delta. After first opening in 2008, it continues to inspire visitors with its rare collection and interactive experience.

TWO MISSISSIPPI MUSEUMS OPENING

In 2017, the Museum of Mississippi History and the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum opened to the public. Visitors can walk through the history of Mississippi from prehistory to the present with a detailed experience of the Civil Rights Movements in the state.

CROSSROADS FILM FESTIVAL

Since 1999, this Mississippi-centered festival has brought film lovers and aspiring filmmakers together to celebrate films of the state and the larger South.

JUBILEE!JAM

This arts and music festival in Jackson, Mississippi, has featured major rock and country stars since 1987. After thirty years, the festival is set to make a comeback since its last performance in 2009.

STEWPOT RED BEANS & RICE

The BankPlus Red Beans & Rice Festival hosted its first virtual cooking class from The Farmer's Table Cooking School in Livingston in November of 2021. The class was led by award-winning Mississippi Chefs Derek Emerson and Connor Wolf, and all proceeds went to the Stewpot Community Services.

COMMISSION TO REDESIGN THE MISSISSIPPI FLAG

Commission to Redesign the Mississippi Flag allowed voters to choose a new flag for the state of Mississippi. The House Bill No. 1 allowed the new state flag to become law.

MUSEUM OF ART CENTENNIAL MIGRATION EXHIBIT

The Museum of Art Centennial celebrates the impact of art in Mississippi. The Great Migration Exhibit explores the Great Migration from the South through painting, sculpture, film, and sound.

INSTITUTION OF SOUTHERN JEWISH LIFE

The Institution of Southern Jewish Life supports, connects, and celebrates Southern Jewish life with programs, resources and services for the Jewish community.

ALABAMA HUMANITIES ALLIANCE

The Alabama Humanities Alliance is a non-profit organization that exists to provide context, build empathy and make Alabama a more vibrant place to live.

MILLSAPS COLLEGE PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION

Millsaps College inaugurated its 11th president, Dr. Rob Pearigan in 2010. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham, gave a speech on "The Liberal Arts in a Global Age."

Community Involvement

WOMEN'S FOUNDATION OF MISSISSIPPI

The Women’s Foundation of Mississippi provides economic security for women by making strategic investments, conducting research, and providing community engagement and education opportunities throughout Mississippi. Holly serves on the Board of Directors.

MISSISSIPPI HUMANITIES COUNCIL

The Mississippi Humanities Council is a private nonprofit corporation funded by Congress through the National Endowment for the Humanities to provide public programs in traditional liberal arts disciplines to serve nonprofit groups in Mississippi. The humanities are the study of history, literature, religion, languages, philosophy, and culture. Holly serves on the Board of Directors.

MISSISSIPPI SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra is the largest performing arts organization in the state of Mississippi. Performing for more than 75,000 people each year, the orchestra impacts the community while also offering educational programs to inspire young musicians. Holly serves on the Board of Directors.

Millsaps College

Millsaps College is dedicated to academic excellence, open inquiry and free expression, the exploration of faith to inform vocation, and the innovative shaping of the social, economic, and cultural progress of our region. Holly serves on the Board of Trustees.

FRIENDS OF CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

Friends of Children’s Hospital is a nonprofit human service organization that aims to connect community partnerships with parents and children through advocacy and resources. Holly serves on the Board of Directors.

THE EUDORA WELTY FOUNDATION

The Eudora Welty Foundation celebrates the legacy of Eudora Welty by providing education and research to enhance Eudora Welty’s legacy. Holly serves on the Board of Directors.

CHILDREN'S OF MISSISSIPPI

Children’s of Mississippi is the state’s largest pediatric hospital with care from birth to teen years. The hospital serves over 100,000 children a year. Holly and her husband were honored to serve on the Capital Campaign.

JUNIOR LEAGUE OF JACKSON

The Junior League of Jackson is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Holly served as president of the Junior League of Jackson from 2012-2013.

SANDERSON FARMS CHAMPIONSHIP

The Sanderson Farms Championship is a professional golf tournament held annually with donations raised for various charities around the state.
